My computer only has USB ports. However, the data module requires a COM and PS/2 interface. What do I have to do?
You can connect the PC data module by using a USB to serial and USB to PS/2 adapter each. Please note: Both cables need to be connected to the computer. For COM settings, see below.
In the measuring modules (straightness, positioning, parallelism) a 'flash' is visible in the lower left area of the screen.
WIN-GEPARD can't connect to a GEPARD receiver.
Is the latest evaluation software for WIN-GEPARD (actual v6.02) installed? This software searches for the connected devices during startup, and sets the required communication parameters so that the users are not required to do this themselves. To allow this, the devices need to be switched on and ready for use.
If it is still not possible to connect, please check which GEPARD device type you are using:
- GEPARD (M4 or bt type) with Bluetooth Wireless data transfer and USB interface on the PC
- GEPARD with PC data module and RS-232c serial interface
Bluetooth wireless: Check the Bluetooth installation settings in the Bluetooth manager:
- Verify that the device code and key are correct. -> You will find them on the delivery slip you received with the original packing.
- Check if the GEPARD receiver is switched on. -> Switch on the GEPARD receiver.
- Verify that the COM interface is between COM1 and COM16. -> Open the Device Manager in the WINDOWS Control Panel. Under Ports (COM LPT), select a COM port between COM1 and COM16.
- Make sure the fibre optic sockets of the GEPARD receiver are covered with the plastic plugs.
PC data module:
- Check if the GEPARD receiver is switched on. -> Switch on the GEPARD receiver.
- Verify that the COM interface is between COM1 and COM16. -> Open the Device Manager in the WINDOWS Control Panel. Under Ports (COM LPT), select a COM port between COM1 and COM16.
- Check if the antennas of the PC data module and the GEPARD receiver are connected properly.
- If the antenna is connected, switch off the GEPARD receiver and switch it back on to check wireless operation.
- If the fibre optic cable is used for data transmission, disconnect the antenna on both sides, insert the fibre optic cable and re-initialise the GEPARD receiver by switching it off and back on.
- Make sure the PC data module is connected to the computer's COM port. -> Data interface
- Make sure the PC data module is connected to the computer's PS/2 port. -> Power supply for the external PC data module.
